About PROJECT_SOULBYTE
The origins, purpose, and vision behind this digital sanctuary
Who Am I?
I'm just one person fighting to reclaim a small corner of the internet from corporate control. A developer, an artist, an organizer who believes that technology should be built for people, not profit. Neither a brand nor a company—just an individual with a vision.
Why Soulbyte?
Soulbyte emerged from my growing disillusionment with what the internet has become. Once a wild, creative commons, it's now a surveillance-capitalist nightmare of engagement metrics, algorithmic control, and corporate walled gardens.
I believe we can build something better. Something that centers human connection rather than extraction. Something that treats users as whole people, not data points to be monetized.
Every bit of code I write here is a rejection of surveillance capitalism and an affirmation that technology can still serve human needs and community values.
Technical Details
This site is intentionally simple. No tracking. No cookies. No analytics harvesting your data. Just plain HTML, CSS, and minimal JavaScript when absolutely necessary.
I host on Neocities because it embodies the DIY web ethos that's been largely lost to corporate platforms and bloated frameworks. Building websites should be accessible to everyone, not just those with enterprise resources.
The Broader Vision
PROJECT_SOULBYTE is just the beginning. I envision a federation of tools, sites, and platforms built with similar ethics—prioritizing human autonomy, connection, and creativity.
I dream of a world where technology serves communities rather than corporations. Where code is a tool for liberation rather than control. Where the internet once again becomes a commons rather than a series of digital company towns.
Will you join me in building it?
